Taajuu, in the Skidegate Haida Language, translates to “windy”. Yahlnaaw’s Nanaay (Grandmother) loved to be on the ocean when it was windy because it created waves, rough ocean water, and renewal.

Anti-oppression work is all about creating and navigating the rough ocean water.

land and water acknowledgements are only the beginning of anti-oppression work

Taajuu Consulting operates internationally and is based on Treaty 1 territory - the Ancestral lands are the Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininew, Dakota, and Dene peoples as well as the homelands of the Red River Métis Nation. The water that supports the livelihood of what is colonially called Winnipeg is sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. These Nations’ hi/storical relationships with the lands and waters need to be held as central in any work being conducted on these lands and waters.

We express immense gratitude for our ability to learn, collaborate, and dismantle systems of oppression alongside Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities globally.
